Geneva, 31 January 2022

Dear friends,

The Year of Tiger is approaching. On behalf of the Chinese Mission here in Geneva, I would like to extend warm greetings and best wishes to you all.

2021 has been very exceptional to the people both in China and around the world.

We celebrated the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. Major progress has been achieved in enhancing people’s living standard, with the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects, and the Chinese people are enjoying a happy life in peace and stability. China will  move forward with full confidence and determination towards the great goal of common prosperity.

China committed itself to multilateral cooperation as a responsible member of the international community. We worked together with others to cope with global challenges, especially in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. China will continue to uphold the central role of the United Nations in international affairs, and will further strengthen friendly cooperation with all parties concerned, to advance the common values of humanity, and  make reinforced efforts for a better world.

In Chinese culture, tiger symbolizes strength, courage and vitality. As a Chinese saying goes, “a single tree cannot make a forest”. As long as we are united as one and make joint efforts, we will eventually get rid of the pandemic, and embrace an earlier global economic and social recovery.

In just several days, the Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games will open. I am sure that this magnificent event will offer a unique opportunity to promote the Olympic spirit, demonstrate international solidarity, cooperation and friendship, and inject more momentum to world peace and development.

I wish you and your families good health, happiness and all the best!
