(March 25,2022)

Mr.President,

I have the honor to speak on behalf of over 50 countries. The COVID-19 pandemic has severely impacted the economicand social development and people's livelihood of all countries, developing countries in particular, and exacerbated inequality. Global development has come under severe challenges.

We are of the view that developmentcontributes significantly tothe enjoyment of human rights. The international communityneed to work together to speed up the implementation of the2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and achieve morerobust, greener and more balanced global development. States should stay committed to people-centered development to makesure that development is for the people and by the people, andthat its fruits are shared among the people. Efforts should be made to achieve inclusive development that benefits all with emphasis on addressing uneven and inadequate development among and within states, leaving no states and persons behind. States shouldpracticemultilateralism, establish globaldevelopmentpartnerships, and support UN in playing a coordinating role inimplementing the 2030 Agenda. Developed countries should extend more robust and targeted support and assistance to developing countries.

We welcome various development initiatives and programmes including Global Development Initiative,African Union'sAgenda 2063,ASEAN Community Vision 2025 and 2050 Strategy for the BluePacific Continent. We call upon all stakeholders to strengthencooperation to achieve common development, promote theenjoyment of human rights, and bring about a better future for people around the world.

Thank you,Mr.President.
