Today is “GrainRain”,one of 24 solar termsknown as Guyu in Chinese, which signals a wonderful season when rain brings the growth of hundreds of grains, and we are welcoming the annual UN Chinese Language Day.
The Chinese language is not only the treasure of the Chinese civilization, but also the common wealth of human civilization. As one of the six official languages of the UN, the Chinese language plays an important role in promoting the effectiveness of UN’s work, and deepening exchanges and cooperation among all parties. In recent years, the Chinese language has become more and more popular among people all over the world. The annual UN Chinese Language Day has become an important festival for Chinese language lovers around the world.
The concepts of “harmony in diversity” “shared prosperity”and “great harmony of the world” in Chinese civilization represent basic values of Chinese people for thousands of years. Promoting exchanges and integration of different civilizations is an inevitable path to make the world and people's lives better. “A single flower does not make spring, while one hundred flowers in full blossom bring spring to the garden.” Last month, Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed the Global Civilization Initiative, emphasizing to open up a new prospect of enhanced exchanges and understanding among different peoples and better interactions and integration of diversified cultures, so as to make the garden of world civilizations more colorful and vibrant. This is what we would like to express in today’s special program by focusing on “common prosperity”. There is only one earth for mankind. I sincerely wishthe people of all countries to strengthen cooperationand dialogue, promote mutual understanding and friendship, so as to achieve mutually beneficial and win-win outcomes, and jointly draw a beautiful picture of development and prosperity.
