On September 13th, the Group of 77 celebrated its 60th anniversary in Geneva. International organizations and the group members participated. Permanent Representative of the People's Republic of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other International Organizations in Switzerland, Ambassador Chen Xu attended and delivered a statement.
Ambassador Chen Xu said that the group has defended the collective interests of the developing countries and achieved fruitful outcomes over the past 6 decades. China actively supports and participates in the work of the “Group 77 and China” , and works with other members to facilitate the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. For promoting peace and development of the world, China advocates building a community with a shared future for mankind and the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative. In July, the 3rd plenary session of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China was concluded successfully, stressing that China will further deepen reform comprehensively to advance Chinese modernization, which will provide more opportunities for the global development.
A Joint Ambassadorial Statement was released in the event. Participants expressed their hope for further strengthening cooperation for enhancing the influence of developing countries in global governance.
