Ambassador Shen Jian attended Universal Postal Union’s Celebration

On October 9, the Universal Postal Union (UPU) held World Post Day and celebrated its 150th anniversary. H. E. Ambassador Shen Jian, deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other International Organizations in Switzerland, attended the event. During the event, the UPU unveiled the results of its 2024 Integrated Index for Postal Development. China was acknowledged as Regional Champions. Ambassador Shen Jian received the Award on behalf of China.


Integrated Index for Postal Development is a composite index developed by the UPU to measure the profile of postal development around the world. It evaluates countries’ postal development on four core indicators: reliability, reach, relevance, and resilience.


Cheng Zihan, an 11-year-old boy from Shanghai, China, won the silver medal in the UPU’s 53rd International Letter-Writing Competition for Young People, which encourages young people aged 9 to 15 to write letters on a given theme. For this edition, the theme was, write a letter to future generations about the world you hope they inherit.
