The United States, in an attempt to retard China’s development, doesn’t even hesitate to collude with the violent terrorist and separatist organizationWorld Uyghur Congress in holdinga so-called “exhibition”, trying to reap benefits from spreading disinformation about China. It has crossed the rudimentary moral line in bashing others. Nonetheless, the contemptible act it resorted to only highlights its role as a “conspirator”.

Taking human rights as a political tool and creating division and turbulence around the worldto serve its own political interests—this has been a trick of the U.S. that is all too familiar to everyone. The U.S.doesn’t care about the human rights of its own people, and worse, it violated frequently the human rights of people in other countries. It is the “champion” in the worldin killing Muslims. Since 2011, illegal wars waged by the U.S. in Afghanistan, the Middle East and elsewhere have led to more than 800,000 deaths, most of whom civilians, and tens of millions in displacement. The U.S. soldiers randomly shot and killed civiliansin overseas military operations, and the perpetrators remain at large to this day. The unilateral coercive measures frequently taken by the U.S. have been further intensified against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, impeding the targeted countries from receiving humanitarian aids, including medical supplies and food, even as life is at stake, and seriously infringing on the human rights of people in those countries. One simply wonders: as the U.S. claims itself as “human rights protector,” what human rights is it protecting when it wages wars of invasion and shoots and throws bombs at innocent civilians? What human rights is it protecting when it imposes sanctions and brings untold miseries to people of the targeted countries?

In recent years, the human rights situation and living conditions of Americans have deteriorated, while the U.S.government remains indifferent and has done nothing. The United States is the only developed country where millions of people are still in starvation, and nearly one seventhof its populationare struggling in poverty. Systemic racism and racial discrimination are on the rise in the U.S.. AfricanAmericans, AsianAmericans, Muslims and American Indians are subject to severe discrimination and social injustice. The U.S. government’s failure in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic has led to massive infection and death. In the U.S., drugs and guns prevail, vicious crimes keep cropping up, and human trafficking and forced labor are rampant.Migrants are held in detention for a prolonged period of time, and migrant children are forced to separate from their parents.

Upholding a people-centered philosophy, China spares no effort in promotingall-round development and shared prosperity for all, developing whole-process democracy and advancing social equity and justice. People of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang, as inthe rest of the country, enjoy equal status and development opportunities, share the benefitsof reform and development, and live an enjoyable and peaceful life. People’s sense of fulfillment, happiness and security continues to grow. This is the biggest human rights project and the best human rights practice.

When a habitual “human rights perpetrator” and a “loser” in protecting its own people’s human rights claims to care about the human rights in other countries, it doesn’t take much wisdom to see through its political intentions and the farce it orchestrates. The U.S. is therefore advised to act as a decent power and invest its resources in improving the welfare and human rights of the American people, rather than violating the human rights of people in other countries andplaying low political tricks. Such a farce doesn’t earn the U.S. anything. Rather, it turns the country to a laughing stock of the international community.
