On April 23, the World Health Organization (WHO) held an information session on COVID-19. Ambassador Chen Xu, Permanent Representative of China to the UN Office at Geneva and other International Organizations in Switzerland, briefed the session the latest situation of COVID-19 in China, announced that China had decided to donate another $30 million to the WHO, and called on all parties to do their best to fight the COVID-19.
Ambassador CHEN said, China would continue to take effective measures to consolidate its hard-won achievements in fighting COVID-19 and strengthen international cooperation to help countries in need.
Ambassador CHEN said, China would firmly support the WHO in continuing to play a leading role in global anti-epidemic cooperation. Recently, the Chinese government had donated $20 million to the WHO. I would like to take this opportunity to announce that China had decided to donate another $30 million to the WHO to support its leading role in global cooperation on COVID-19 and strengthen developing countries' health systems. Virus knows no borders. Unity makes strength. China is ready to work with other parties to contribute to the global cooperation on COVID-19.
