Celebration of 2025 United Nations Chinese Language Day
Successfully Held at the Palais des Nations
On April 15, the Permanent Mission of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva, the United Nations Office at Geneva, and China Media Group (CMG) jointly celebrated the 2025 United Nations Chinese Language Day at the Palais des Nations. Over 300 attendees were present, including permanent representatives or senior diplomats from around 50 countries such as Pakistan, Qatar, Cameroon, Mauritius, Russia, Belarus, Costa Rica, and Bolivia, as well as heads of international organizationsand media representatives. Ambassador Chen Xu and Director-General Tatiana Valovaya delivered remarks, while President Shen Haixiongof the CMG addressed the event via video.

Ambassador Chen Xu noted that this year’s theme, Xing (meaning to walk or to act), embodies the wisdom of unity in knowledge and practice, highlights the spirit of dedication and hard work, and demonstrates an open and inclusive mindset. China is actively advancing Chinese modernization, practicing true multilateralism, and calling on all parties to reaffirm their steadfast commitment to the purposes and principles of the UN Charter on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the United Nations. Xing is also a sincere invitation from the Chinese people to the world, welcoming more friends to visit China and gain a deeper understanding of the country.
Director-General Tatiana Valovaya mentioned that the Chinese language,carrying profound culture and wisdom, serves as a bridge for global communication. She urged all parties to work together to build a more inclusive and prosperous future through embracing diversity and mutual respect. President Shen Haixiong expressed his hope that friends worldwide would gain a better understanding of China through visual technology, and come to China to share opportunities, engage in cultural dialogues, and pursue innovation together.

The event featured foreign influencers sharing their experiences in China, interactive sessions with the mascot "Cangbao," and exhibitions of "Beautiful China" and "Brilliant Intangible Cultural Heritage" by China Daily. Attendees also enjoyed screenings of the AI-empowered documentaryOn the Trail of the Dragon, participated in online Chinese tourism courses, and tasted Chinese cuisine and spring tea. Guests expressed their admiration for Chinese culture and their eagerness to visit China.
