Mr. President,

China expresses serious concern about the human rights situation in the occupied Palestinian territories and in Gaza in particular.

We welcome the recent ceasefire agreement reached by the parties involved. The present priority now is to implement it in a continued and effective manner and advance the follow-up negotiations with a constructive attitude. The occupying power must earnestly fulfill its obligations under the international law, respect and protect the human rights of the Palestinian people and guarantee the safe return of the displaced persons to their homes.

The “two-state solution” is the only viable way out of the Palestinians' question. Gaza is an integral part of the territory of Palestine. 

China firmly supports the legitimate national rights of the Palestinian people. We believe that the “Palestinians governing Palestine” is an important principle that must be upheld in the post-conflict governance of Gaza. We oppose the forced displacement of the people of Gaza.

China calls upon all parties to pay close attention to the aspirations and appeals of the Arab States and of the State of Palestine in particular and work for a comprehensive, just and lasting solution to the Palestinian question.
