Over 300 participants attended the event, including permanent representatives from more than 30 countries, senior diplomats from over 60 countries and representatives from international organizations including UNOG and the World Health Organization (WHO). In his speech, Ambassador Chen Xu highlighted that Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a gem of Chinese civilization, characterized by its long history, inclusiveness, and adaptability. He noted that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations and that China has put forward the Global Governance Initiative. He expressed China’s readiness to take TCM as a bridge to enhance mutual understanding, share experiences, and jointly address global challenges such as public health governance.

The event featured a variety of interactive segments, including TCM exercise demonstrations, ginseng-themed experiences, traditional handicrafts, wellness practices, and consultation sessions. Guests experienced the making of herb sachets, tasted chongyang cakes and ginseng-based medicinal dishes, and experienced the TCM philosophy of “harmonizing yin and yang, following the way of nature.” The atmosphere was warm and friendly. Participants expressed appreciation for the event host, noting that it vividly showcased the unique value and cultural charm of TCM. They emphasized that TCM’s principles resonate with the United Nations’ goals of sustainable development and promoting human health and well-being, and expressed willingness to work with China to build a better future together.
