On April 29, 2026, the Chinese delegation to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Council session and the Permanent Mission of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva co-hosted a reception on the sidelines of the ITU Council session at the ITU headquarters. Around 300 participants attended the event, including Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology of China H.E. Mr. Xiong Jijun, Permanent Representative of China H.E. Mr. Jia Guide, Secretary-General of the ITU H.E. Ms. Doreen Bogdan-Martin, as well as representatives from over 40 countries.
H.E. Mr. Jia Guide noted in his remarks that China stands ready to deepen exchanges and cooperation with all parties, and to work together to build an open, inclusive and interconnected world of common development, making new contributions to building a community with a shared future for humanity. Vice Minister Xiong comprehensively elaborated on China’s constructive participation in the work of the ITU and its successful practices in bridging the digital divide. Secretary-General Doreen highly praised China’s long-standing and significant contributions to the ITU.
