On March 16, 2026, Ambassador Jia Guide, Permanent Representative of the People’s Republic of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva and Other International Organizations in Switzerland, met with Mr. Alexander Kmentt, Permanent Representative of Austria.
Ambassador Jia Guide said that this year marks the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Austria. Under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China-Austria relations have withstood the test of changing international circumstances and have been upgraded to a friendly strategic partnership. The current international situation is complex and volatile, and multilateralism is facing severe challenges. China and Austria should jointly advocate and practice true multilateralism on the Geneva platform, enhance mutual trust and bridge differences through candid exchanges, and inject valuable stability and certainty into a fluid world.
Ambassador Kmentt expressed the Austrian side's appreciation for China's steadfast support for multilateralism and its significant and constructive role within the UN system. He looked forward to strengthening exchanges and cooperation with China on the Geneva platform to jointly uphold multilateralism and the rule of international law.
