On April 1, 2026, H.E. Ambassador Jia Guide, Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other International Organizations in Switzerland, met with H.E. Ambassador Elmer SCHIALER SALCEDO, Permanent Representative of Peru to the United Nations Office in Geneva.

Ambassador Jia Guide stated that in recent years, under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries, China-Peru relations have maintained a high level of development. Given the current fluid international situation, practicing genuine multilateralism is the right choice. China appreciates Peru's positive assessment of the Global Governance Initiative and is willing to work with Peru to strengthen communication and cooperation on multilateral platforms at Geneva to jointly safeguard the authority of multilateralism and the rule of international law.

Ambassador Elmer SCHIALER SALCEDO spoke highly of the multilateral and bilateral cooperation between Peru and China, emphasizing that  regardless of changes in the international landscape, Peru has always highly valued its friendship, mutual trust and cooperation with China. The current international order is undergoing profound changes, Peru is willing to uphold multilateralism, strengthen communication and cooperation with China in multilateral mechanisms such as the United Nations and to jointly safeguard international fairness and justice.
