Chinese Mission Spokesperson Liu Yuyin Refutes the Erroneous Remarks on China by Officials of the United Kingdom and a Few Other Countries

On March 22, human rights ambassadors of ten countries, namely, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, Spain, Finland, Estonia, Lithuania and Luxembourg, expressed the so-called concerns over issues related to China, repeating lies worth no refutation. Their accusations have once again testified that, for them, human rights are nothing but a tool for political manipulation. China staunchly rejects these accusations.

Putting people at the center, the Chinese government takes people's aspiration for a better life as its goal and to this end has made unremitting efforts. All ethnic groups in China are equal, and the lawful rights and interests of all ethnic minorities are fully protected. Allegations of the so-called "systemic rape", "mass detention", "large-scale surveillance", "forced sterilization" and "forced labor" are outright lies and, as monstrous and preposterous as they are, these lies reflect precisely the dark side of their mind and the crimes these countries once committed. To slander China with these malicious lies is an outrageous insult and affront to the Chinese people. Put it blunt, China's policy and practice on ethnic minorities are way better and more equal than that of the above ten countries, and ethnic minorities in China enjoy far greater happiness, equality and dignity than those in these countries. Far from admitting their own problems, these countries made unfounded charges against China under the pretext of human rights and shamelessly maligned China by using disinformation fabricated and liars trained by anti-China extremists. Their attempt is nothing but to tarnish China's image, undermine China's stability, retard China's development and deny the right of all Chinese people, including the Uygurs, to pursue a happy life. This is something that the Chinese people will never accept and will respond forcefully.

The door to Xinjiang is wide open. Those who have visited Xinjiang all said that what they observed there was completely different from what was displayed by some western media. China welcomes the High Commissioner for Human Rights to visit China, including Xinjiang, and the two sides are in communication on the matter. The High Commissioner's visit is to be a friendly visit aimed at promoting exchanges and cooperation, rather than making the so-called "investigation" under the presumption of guilt. Those who attempt to use this matter for political manipulation and exert pressure on China will only end up reaping humiliation. Since 2019, we have extended sincere invitation to the UK and all EU countries to visit Xinjiang on a number of occasion, but on each occasion, they declined with one excuse after another, and failed to make the trip to this date. We just wonder, why are they so scared to go? And if they refuse to go but instead keep pushing the High Commissioner to visit Xinjiang, what are they up to?
