On September 8, the Chinese Permanent Mission in Geneva co-hosted a side event with OHCHR, among other partners, at the Palais des Nations on the theme of the ESCR Knowledge Hub. Minister Li Xiaomei moderated the event and delivered the keynote address, with representatives from South Africa, Mexico, the European Union, Malaysia, NHRIs, NGOs, and academia speaking, and permanent representatives and senior diplomats from a number of countries in attendance.

Minister Li noted that China has consistently upheld the enhancement of human rights protection in the course of Chinese modernization, and is committed to sharing its own effective experiences in advancing human rights on international platforms. The ESCR resolution mandated OHCHR to establish the Knowledge Hub and to play a greater role, thereby empowering the sound development of the international human rights cause. Various parties expressed their gratitude to China for participating in co-hosting the event, and actively shared good practices and valuable experiences from their engagement with the Knowledge Hub.

In 2023, the 54th session of the Human Rights Council adopted by consensus the ESCR resolution led by China. Pursuant to this resolution, the ESCR Knowledge Hub was established in 2024, and its online platform was launched in 2025.
