On 21 July 2026, the Permanent Mission of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other International Organizations in Switzerland hosted a social practice group from Tsinghua University's Wuqiong College. The two sides held exchanges on global artificial intelligence (AI) governance.

Counsellor Yu Zhicheng introduced the opportunities and challenges facing global AI governance in the context of major international events including the 2026 World AI Conference and High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance. He outlined China's vision, proposals and practical efforts in the field of AI, highlighting China’s active participation in and contribution to the global AI governance. Young diplomat Yang Le briefed on the evolution of global AI governance through the history, mandate, and strategic priorities of the International Telecommunication Union, and also shared his experiences of multilateral diplomacy in Geneva.

The social practice group presented University's educational philosophy, research achievements, and international cooperation in the field of AI. The two sides also engaged in in-depth discussion on youth development, international rule-making, and legislative and regulatory approach to AI governance.

The students said that the exchange was both informative and inspiring. It not only deepened their understanding of global AI governance, but also further strengthened their sense of responsibility and commitment to contributing to the development of AI and its global governance.
