On July 27, 2026, H.E. Mr. Jia Guide, Permanent Representative of the People's Republic of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other International Organizations in Switzerland, met with H.E. Mr. Naser Abdullah H.M. ALHAYEN, Permanent Representative of Kuwait.

Ambassador Jia noted that over the past 55 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, bilateral ties have continued to deepen and deliver tangible outcomes. Under current turbulence and changes, China stands ready to work with Kuwait, continuing firmly upholding the international order underpinned by international law and the basic norms governing international relations based on the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, practicing true multilateralism, and safeguarding the interests of developing countries at large.

ALHAYEN reaffirmed its position of upholding the one-China principle, noting that China is a good friend and good partner of Kuwait, both of which share broad consensus in international multilateral affairs. Kuwait stands ready to enhance communication and cooperation with China at the platform of Geneva, and promote continuous new progress in bilateral relations, taking the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries as an opportunity.

The two sides exchanged views on the situation in the Gulf.
