On 22 June, during the 62nd session of the Human Rights Council, the Permanent Mission of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other International Organizations in Switzerland, together with the People's Government of Qinghai Province, successfully hosted a Qinghai-themed event entitled “Qinghai: Home for Multiple Ethnic Groups Where Nature and Culture Thrive Together”.

The event featured remarks by Governor Luo Dongchuan of Qinghai Province, Director-General Tatiana Valovaya of the United Nations Office at Geneva, and Ambassador Jia Guide, Permanent Representative of China. Approximately 200 participants attended, including permanent representatives and senior diplomats from more than 20 countries, as well as representatives of international organizations.

Drawing on vivid stories and detailed data, Governor Luo presented Qinghai's achievements in promoting ethnic unity, ecological conservation, poverty alleviation, and rural revitalization. He highlighted the province's efforts to foster solidarity among all ethnic groups and to advance harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature, offering a compelling account of Qinghai's historic achievement in plateau ecosystem protection and high quality development.

Director-General Valovaya noted that Qinghai offers a rich example of how environmental protection, cultural diversity and sustainable development can reinforce one another.

Ambassador Jia stated that Qinghai's story reflects China's ethnic policies based on equality and solidarity, its practice of promoting human rights through development, and its commitment to ecological conservation. The Law of the People's Republic of China on Promoting Ethnic Unity and Progress will soon take effect, providing further legal safeguards for protecting the equal rights of all ethnic groups and promoting common prosperity. He also noted that China recently released the white paper More Just and Equitable Global Governance: China's Principles, Proposals and Actions, reaffirming its commitment to working with all countries to build a more just and equitable global governance system.

The event also featured a performance by students from Qinghai, who sang songs in Chinese, Tibetan, and English. Through immersive cultural activities—including traditional handicraft experiences, ethnic costume displays, interactive demonstrations of Tibetan medicine and wellness practices, Thangka art exhibition and a photography exhibition—participants gained a deeper appreciation of Qinghai's natural beauty, cultural diversity, and development achievements, as well as a better understanding of China's governance and development experience.
