On the evening of 25 September 2026, Ambassador Jia Guide, Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva and Other International Organizations in Switzerland, Ambassador Li Yongjie, Permanent Representative of China to the World Trade Organization, and Ambassador Li Chijiang for Disarmament Affairs jointly hosted a reception to celebrate the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. More than 700 guests attended, including permanent representatives from over 120 countries, heads of more than 20 international organizations, and representatives from various sectors.

In his remarks, Ambassador Jia said that over the past 77 years, China has followed a development path suited to its national conditions, achieving a historic transformation from standing up and growing prosperous to becoming strong, and creating the two miracles of rapid economic growth and long-term social stability, while ensuring comprehensive protection of the rights of its people. China has pursued high-quality development and high-standard opening-up, creating more opportunities for international cooperation through its own development. This year marks the 55th anniversary of the restoration of the lawful seat of the People’s Republic of China in the United Nations. China stands ready to work with all parties to uphold the role and authority of the United Nations, advance the four Global Initiatives, and promote a more just and equitable global governance system.

Coinciding with the Mid-Autumn Festival, the reception was held under the theme “Under the Full Moon, United in Multilateralism” and featured displays on China’s development, science and technology, global initiatives and intangible cultural heritage, drawing many guests to stop, explore and take part. Guests extended warm congratulations to China, enjoyed the unique charm of Chinese culture, spoke highly of the achievements of Chinese modernization, and commended China’s firm commitment to upholding and practicing multilateralism.
