At the invitation of the Office of the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG), young diplomats from the Permanent Mission of China in Geneva met with more than 40 youth representatives from various countries participating in discussions on the post-2030 sustainable development agenda.

The Chinese diplomats revisited President Xi Jinping's 2017 speech at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, in which he outlined the vision of building a community with a shared future for humanity. They also introduced the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative and the Global Governance Initiative. Against the backdrop of the 55th anniversary of the restoration of the lawful seat of the People's Republic of China in the United Nations, the diplomats shared examples from China's participation in multilateral work in Geneva. Focusing on issues of interest to young people, they explained China's approach to supporting the United Nations and multilateral cooperation, as well as its participation in relevant initiatives and activities.

Participants exchanged views and raised questions on the four Global Initiatives and their application in multilateral settings. The discussion was interactive, with active participation from the youth representatives.
